I remember ...

A friend of mine told me of the canyon and the cascade of Poggio Moiano, so I went there. It was june 1999 and the stream was dry. I did not find anchors (but you can anchor rope on trees) and I made a belay for rappelling the big cascade along the flow line. The belay was used in the following years by the ones who descended the canyon, not by me because I never returned there, judging the canyon uninteresting.

As the years passed, however, I was curious to walk the canyon of Poggio Moiano in water conditions. In April of 2013 came the right combination of commitments, health, weather and water flow, so I could return there, together with my friend Emanuele Abbazia. And finally the canyon of Poggio Moiano unveiled its authentic canyoning face, which turned out more beautiful than I had imagined.
A real gem.

Photographs in this website show ultralight ropes (6 mm ropes made of high tenacity fibers). Read multimedia book Ultralight ropes canyoning technique to learn how to use them.
