Is Portas Santas
The magnificent canyon of Portas Santas opens in the solitary wild mountains of Sulcis, far, very far from roads and people. They are so solitary and wild to be the only place where the sardinian deer survived. Dense forests cover the steep twisted mountainsides and tops as far as you can see, and it's very difficult to orientate yourself. There are very few paths and some unpaved roads in bad conditions, mostly closed by bars or gates. Where rocks are more harsh they make walls and pinnacles surrounding valleys and canyons like Portas Santas.
I remember ...As a canyoneer I often find myself in places of amazing beauty. Sometimes it even happens to be you are in front of a landscape that surprises you so deeply to let you without the words. A scenery of such alien and deep beauty gives a special meaning to that day, even to canyoning itself. It happened in Portas Santas, at the view that opens from the top of first granite cascade. We stood with no words for minutes, trying to capture such a beauty in our cameras, but we didn't get it. Photos and video by Angileri, Biavati, Pucci, Sgualdini
