Italian canyons are wild and solitary places, to be discovered and explored freely since in Italy the watercourses are owned by the State.
But the land that surrounds them is very often privately owned, and getting in or out of the canyon involves passing through private land and woods that have an owner
who may not agree.
In Calabria, if you enter private land, even the furthest and most solitary, the owner appears out of nowhere and asks you what are you doing
and how did you get there ...
But in 99% of cases it's not a problem: once he understands who you are and what you do, he himself gives you directions, explains how to open the gate
or opens it for you, maybe even worrying if you're late ...
Take advantage of it, ask him a little about the history of the place, chat about current events, the family, ... and you'll end up discovering
interesting things that will add to the good memories of the day.
