Fosso Malafede

The upper Fosso Inferno is named Fosso Malafede. It is more rugged and vertical than lower Fosso Inferno but, being upstream of the perennial springs, it is almost always dry.

Malafede canyon can be descended as a standalone route, or linked to Fosso Inferno. In this last case, however, keep in mind that the two canyons are very different one another.

I remember ...

It was not very hot that day. A pleasant breeze was blowing at the parking point. I made myself a coffee in the shade of a tree, then loaded my backpack and started the climb.
But Matese range is far from home, and by the time you get there and start walking it's midday. The climb is steep and in the sun, so it was really hard to go up, even proceeding at a slow pace, even stopping every time I found a bit of shade.
In the gorge, fortunately, there was a different climate.
