Fosso di Placa

The mountains of Calabrian Upper Ionio are mainly made of flysch, which is not good for canyons. Occasionally, however, more compact rocks emerge: sandstones, marls, limestones, in which the streams can carve suggestive but generally very short gorges.

Near Castrorègio, an outcrop of marl hosts the beautiful forms of Placa canyon.

I remember ...

I thought I would find something more at Fosso di Placa. I knew where the most interesting section was, I had located it a couple of years before, but I thought there were other interesting sections both upstream and downstream.
But no, there was nothing else.
