cookieless, no-ads, no threats canyon exploring with Michele Angileri Torrente Raca
Traveling along SP6 road, in the northernmost part of the province of Crotone, the attentive eye will not fail to notice a cliff furrowed by the evident carving of a gorge. It is the canyon of Raca torrent.
I remember ...Leaving the countryside of Crucoli, an old sign on the SP6, which here is a modest country road with a deformed road surface
and a lot of potholes, welcomes you to Province of Crotone ...
From that point you enter a surreal environment of farmland that seems abandoned but is still cultivated and home to pastures, surrounded by landslide-prone clay hills from which rugged conglomerate cliffs emerge.
The villages are far away, invisible. The "provincial road" becomes at times a dirt road eroded by the floods of the streams, sometimes invaded by mud flows coming down from the hills, or by stones fallen from the cliffs.
And the bridges with which the road crosses the streams are often without protections, perhaps fallen down ...
In the right season the hills are green and the streams carry water but you still have the feeling of crossing a desert. Copyright © 2002- Michele Angileri. All rights reserved. |
